It is close to the end of 2012 and what a great ending to have one of my original blocks featured in Quiltmaker Magazine! Be sure to check out their site for details at quiltmaker.com/quiltypleasures
My block is called Crystal star and you will find it on page 26. This Star Block was inspired by a metal art Star I purchased while in Colorado. I gave it to a friend and we both thought it would make a great quilt block. I began to draft out the block and when done I brought all my sewing supplies to her house and we began to sew. The block featured in the magazine is the one I made that day!!
What was more fun was coming up with the name. A group of friends that I sew with every Third Tuesday helped me in picking the name.We had so much fun brainstorming and came up with a few silly names like, “It’s a Star-Duh” and Sis-Star, to name a few. I ended up calling it Crystal Star after my Mom. Silly name went down the sentimental road.
So this is a great way to end this year and STAR-t next year!! I am designing several projects using this star, so stay tuned to see where it takes me!
You can win a copy of this magazine if you make a comment on my blog, so don’t wait, You may be the Lucky one!
Lovely star – and fun story in the naming. I name all my quilts – some are goofy, some sentimental – and some of the discarded names are priceless (or not shareable)
